LabScribe Software
New LabScribe2 Software For Teaching

The cornerstone of iWorx systems for teaching is LabScribe2 software, the easiest to use data recording and analysis solution available for both Windows and Macintosh computers. It strikes the ideal balance between flexibility and simplicity. Just push the Record button, then use the AutoScale feature to center and expand your data; and you’re recording!

The easy click-and-play approach also extends to a useful assortment of analyses, such as rate, integral, and conversion to real units. And, of course, built-in online help is always available.

Main Window Features

The Main Display
Data recorded with LabScribe2 is presented as distance-per-unit of time, e.g., cm/sec, exactly as it would be on a traditional paper chart recorder. The x-axis display is compressed or expanded using point and click icons in the LabScribe2 toolbar. The LabScribe2 display can smoothly scroll data at any speed. The display scroll rate is not determined by sampling rate, so you have full control over resolution and display. This is particularly useful when students want to compress high-resolution data on the time axis to create a data overview.

AutoScale
A single button allows you to find the data on a channel, wherever it is, center it and expand it to fill the available channel space. AutoScale used with iWorx high-resolution recorders ensures that your students will never again lose data because they are out of range.

Cursors
Most measurements students make on recorded data involve a distance in time or a difference in amplitude. For this reason, LabScribe2 places two easy-to-move cursors in each display of data. LabScribe2 displays the difference in time and the difference
in voltage (or calibrated units) between the cursors. Cursors can be moved with the mouse, or for precise placement, with the arrow keys on the keyboard.

Real World Units
LabScribe2 software allows you to calibrate the displayed data in any unit that you choose. Reading your data in mmHg or grams or micro amps takes the guesswork out of analysis.

Real-Time Marks
Students can insert “Text Marks” from the keyboard into their data to indicate events like drug delivery or stimulus points. It is easy to search and Go To Mark anywhere in the data. For reporting, students can position the text in a given mark over the data it applies to, just like writing on chart paper.

Analysis
The LabScribe2 Main Window currently supports functions that can show you the real-time rate, integral or any of 28 online analyses. Each of these is set up from a single click in the Main Window. LabScribe2 also has an “Analysis Window” where students can make more in-depth measurements and build lab reports. There are 31 different kinds
of measurements supported in this window. There are also special functions in the software that can:

1. Calculate and Display a 6-lead cardiogram from two recorded leads

2. Calculate and display EEG power with time in Alpha, Beta, Theta or Delta bands

3. Make respiratory measurements easy by auto zeroing and auto calibrating the sensor output. Never use a calibration syringe again!

Online Analysis

Common measurements for ECG, spirometry and blood pressure may be automated, if desired.

Built-in Stimulator Support
LabScribe2 software fully supports the stimulator output on iWorx hardware. Students can modify instructor-created or built-in stimulus protocols from a point-and-click toolbar in the Main Window.

Lab Reports
LabScribe2 creates a lab report that contains all of the measurements and pictures from the data. Students can also enter text from the keyboard to explain their results. Reports that students create in LabScribe2 can be edited within the built-in Lab Journal; no need to export to word processors or spreadsheet programs. Reports can be printed or emailed. The instructor can even use a report template, so reports will be in a standardized format.

Settings and Courseware
Settings or templates for the various lab experiments are stored in the program’s settings menu. Each setting includes the Lab Manual and Journal format, as well as the program acquisition and analysis settings. This makes changing program settings to accommodate different experiments point-and-click easy. iWorx supplies 50 pre-made experimental settings files complete with documentation, or you can build your own using the new Settings Manager. No additional software is required.

Free Upgrades and Built-in Site License
LabScribe2 Software upgrades are free. Better yet, LabScribe2 software may be freely distributed and copied to other lab computers. That means that students can record data in the lab and work on analysis and lab reports at their leisure. LabScribe2 is written with support for either iWorx hardware or e-series National Instruments Boards.

Registered iWorx users can download the LabScribe installer software in the iWorx users area.

LS/20 LabScribe2 Recording Software
for use with iWorx Computer Interface

This is the main program for use with iWorx hardware. It is furnished with every iWorx Recorder for use with either Windows or Macintosh computers.

Part Number: LS/20

LS/18NI LabScribe/NI Recording Software
for National Instruments 6000 series Data Acquisition Cards Supported by NI-DAQ 7.3 or greeater (LabScribe2 is not yet available for NI Cards).

LabScribeNI software works with any 6000 series National Instruments A/D card, including support for the NI-DAQPAD-6015. It can display up to 16 channels and supports speeds up to 5,000 16-bit samples per second. Data is displayed in strip chart fashion and can be compressed or expanded in the Main window up to 2000:1. Recorded data is continuously buffered to the computer hard disk, so even during a power outage, raw data is preserved.
