New
Versions of the iWorx Physiology Lab Exercises for
Courses using Elaine Marieb’s Human Anatomy &
Physiology Laboratory Manual, 8th Edition, Benjamin
Cummings, Publishers |
|
This supplemental
lab manual compliments the activities in the 8th
edition of the Human Anatomy & Physiology Laboratory Manual,
authored by Elaine Marieb and published by Benjamin Cummings.
The collection of experiments permits eight activities presented
in the Marieb manual to be completed using the iWorx physiology
lab teaching system. The areas studied include:
electromyograms (EMG) and muscle strength; electroencephalograms
(EEG), galvanic skin responses (GSR), reaction times;
electrocardiograms (ECG); peripheral circulation; cardiac muscle
activity; and, respiration. Locked versions of these
experiments can be found
here.
Registered iWorx
users can download a high resolution, press-optimized copy of
this supplement to the Marieb manual, suitable for printing, by
clicking
here. Copies of the individual experiments in the
supplement, that are also the helper files that appear on the
computer screen to assist students, are available below. The
group of settings files designed to configure the recording
software for recording these experiments is available
here. |

This manual is designed for use with the PK/256NI
psychophysiology teaching system that uses the iWorx ETH-256
combination amplifier and LabScribeNI recording
software on computers equipped with National Instruments
(NI) data acquisition cards or units. The experiments
include a tutorial on the LabScribe recording software and
the following studies: electroencephalograms (EEG) and
cortical arousal; galvanic skin responses (GSR) and
emotional states; stress and embarrassment; blood pressure
and vagal tone; and cynicism and hostility. Locked
copies of the individual experiments are available
here.
Users with
either the HK/256NI or AHK/256NI physiology teaching kits
can perform the experiments in this manual with the addition
of the PS/214 Add-On Transducer Set that is described
below.
